City Love: Pittsburgh Edition

As you all may remember from my last post, I spent the last weekend in Pittsburgh and had an amazing time. I was not expecting to like Pittsburgh as much as I did. The views were beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the coffee was nothing short of amazing.

View from Darren's porch. How cute are the arches?
Cathedral of Learning - where Pitt students can study and take class. It looks like Hogwarts!
They had these adorable red doors everywhere.
 BEST. COFFEE. SHOPS. EVER.
 Darren being silly.
The walls were green! :)
 Lee and Darren
Beautiful view from the restaurant where we had lunch.
 Amazing salad. :)
All in all, it was an amazing trip and even though it was a sad goodbye as my friend doesn't come back for 27 months, I'm happy I was able to see him before he's shipped off to the other side of the world. :)

Spring in February?

Happy Humpday! As usual, I can't wait for the weekend. This weekend is going to be fun because I'll be visiting my friend Darren in Pittsburgh who will be leaving the country for 27 months! I'm excited for him, but I mostly wish he could have gone to DC for 27 months or well, anywhere in the US where I could get to him without buying a plane ticket. Either way, this will be one last hoorah before he ships off. On the bright side, I'll hopefully have some pretty pictures of Pittsburgh. There's always a silver lining. :) While we have been facing ridiculously cold days, I decided I wasn't going to let winter control my wardrobe and decided to infuse some Spring into my outfit.

As you guys could possibly tell, I'm pretty obsessed with my H&M bag, I am pretty sure I've worn it in the last couple of outfit posts. Maybe it's about time I change my go-to bag.
I love the colors of the top and it makes me want Spring/Summer that much more. As if I needed another reason to hate Winter and yearn for Spring.
I broke my "no big earrings in the winter rule" too. And I wore flats. I definitely regretted that later on in the day when I couldn't feel my feet. My yearning for Spring has turned into masochism! My poor feet hated me by the time I got home. But I got some color in my outfit at least! Not that many people saw with my bulky coat covering it all up. However, I did manage to feel a little cheery knowing that if I couldn't see real flowers, I could at least have them on my shirt. :)
OUTFIT DETAILS
Earrings - Boutique in Greenwich Village
Blazer - H&M
Top - Forever21
Jeans - Forever21
Flats - H&M

And now I'm off to write yet another paper. As much as I don't want to grow up, this whole homework thing is starting to get a little old.

Mission: Organization

Now that my time at my college is coming to an end, it seems like everyone around me is talking about a new place they are going to get or how they're going to decorate this new place. Unfortunately for us, city apartments are not necessarily big so the more organized and simple they can look, the better. Though I'm dorming my first year of law school, I'll be starting somewhere new in a (small) room that I'm going to have to decorate and organize as well. As a girl who has too much of well ... everything, I love anything that can make my life simpler by organizing the random things I accumulate. Because of this, I've compiled my ten favorite things I found online that act as organizers.

1. These green boxes would be so classy and simple. And they can act like archives by putting labels on them.
2. I have WAY too many shoes and this box would be perfect for me. I hate having shoes in the back of my closet that I end up forgetting about. With this box, you can stack them up and even see what shoe is inside of the box.
3. I have a love for books so naturally I have a love for bookshelves. This bookshelf offers a lot of room and for $24.99, you can't go wrong. If you've noticed from some of the outfit pictures that I've taken in my room, I have a bookshelf that isn't quite your ordinary bookshelf. It's easy because it is hung on the wall which means it doesn't take up space and holds a good amount of stuff. We also have two other bookcases in our room for extra storage.
4. My desk is one of the first things that gets messy. I practically live on it. It's where I do my homework, it's where I watch shows online, I even eat on it sometimes! (which I probably shouldn't do so much). So I love things that can organize random office supplies that are always lying around on my desk and this stack-able organizer is perfect for those random things that are too small to put anywhere else. My roommates and I went on a craft frenzy last year when we first moved into our house and went to Michael's to buy things. I bought wooden little organizers and painted them.

The yellow heart holds studs, the blue star holds paper clips, and the green octagon holds my thumb tacks that are used to hold up my syllabi on my corkboards.
5. Living in a house with 5 other girls and 6 boyfriends, there are many keys always roaming around. This key hook would be perfect for having all of your keys in one place. How cute is the bike on top of it? :)
6. During the winter time, I hate wearing big earrings because they get caught on coats and scarves. I usually alternate between four pairs of studs and love having them handy but hate having them where they might fall. This trinket dish would be such a cute addition for my desk. Given my obsession with owls, it's no wonder I chose that dish above all others. :)
7. Ever since I saw an episode of Zoom (yes, I obviously grew up in the 90's) where a girl painted a old wooden trunk to have at the foot of her bed, I always said that I would get a wooden trunk and do the same thing. Unfortunately, I haven't purchased one as of yet but I definitely intend to at some point although I'm not sure that I would paint it. This wooden trunk is beautiful and would add charm to any room.
8. Baskets are always a must for magazines that carry daily inspiration. This wicker basket is adorable. I own green crates that hold random junk. They're not big enough to hold magazines but they do the job.
9. Cork boards are absolutely amazing. I get a syllabus for every class and I love having them handy on top of my desk if I ever need to see what's due.
10. Glass jars are so cute for those every day things. They allow you to see what's in them while still being organized. What's better than that?

And there you have it, ten wonderful things every chic organizer should have. :) How do you guys organize your rooms? I'd love to know.

Sunday Sights

Hello all. :) I just got back from the computer lab where I have spent the last 6 hours or so and I'm exhausted to say the least. I wanted to share with you guys my weekend in pictures since it was actually semi-eventful. On Saturday, my roommate and I randomly decided to go to Greenwich Village for some thrift shopping. Unfortunately, we barely made it to one and became sidetracked. Either way, it was an awesome day. We froze to death later on and it took about 2 hours to defrost, but the trip to NYC was worth it. Where did the taste of spring go? :( The 60 degree weather has definitely gone away and winter has come back with a vengeance.

I love the character the West Village has. How cute is the Vespa? It matches the house perfectly. I wonder if the owners planned that. Well, I guess they must have. It's too perfect. In the future, I'll own a cute little brownstone and a matching Vespa in the West Village. I'll make it happen somehow. Maybe just the brownstone part. :)
I went to the mall today and decided to pick up this lovely thing. It's called Metro Chic. One of my roommates has the nail polish and I decided to paint my nails that color two days ago and fell in love. I couldn't stop staring at my nails and knew I had to get it.
The scarf was purchased in a random boutique in the West Village and it fits in beautifully with my vast collection of scarves. The shop was filled with an incense smell and the scarf still smells like the store. I probably looked so weird to those who saw me sniffing my scarf every now and then.
I love pocket watch necklaces and when I saw this lovely one on Etsy, I didn't think twice about buying it.

And there you have it, random musings on a Sunday night. I hope all of your weekends have been a bit warmer! :)

A Walk Through the Park

Although I'm still sick, yesterday was absolutely beautiful here so I knew I could not stay in the house. The weather reached 60 degrees! My roommate and I decided to take a walk in the park and I brought my camera along to try out my new fish eye lens but I managed to snap some outfit pictures too. :)

OUTFIT DETAILS
Jacket - American Eagle
Tunic - Forever21
Scarf - Forever21
Boots - Local Store
Bag - H&M
Necklace - Etsy

This outfit was so easy to just throw on and I actually really liked the result. It's a bit more of a fall outfit but I love fall colors. We made the plan to go to the park rather quickly and found ourselves ready in record time. I really just threw everything on and walked out the door. My roommates are ridiculously supportive of me and my blog so luckily, they don't mind me taking my camera everywhere while I try new lens or take outfit pictures. Thanks Nisha! :)

And now my new fish eye lens.
I love the effect it has on pictures. It looks so cool. :) And now I must go cook me some lunch and catch up on Jersey Shore and The Office. My friends are coming over tonight and tomorrow I'm not entirely sure what we'll be doing. All I know for sure is that I'm spending Sunday in the library. Sundays are my most productive days here. Hopefully I can get rid of this stupid cold by then so I actually have the energy to do homework. I hope you guys have a great weekend!

Valentine's Day Aftermath

Hello there lovelies! I hope your humpday has treated you well. I, unfortunately, caught the flu so while the day has come and gone, I have been confined to my bed for the most part trying to get rid of this cold. I didn't have much energy for an outfit post so I decided to show you guys my V-day aftermath. Remember the post when I mentioned I love keys? Well, my lovely boyfriend got me my own vintage looking key from Tiffany's. :)

I'm obsessed with it and haven't taken it off since. :)

For dinner, we decided to dress up a little since it rarely happens that we're both dressed up. College life will do that to ya though.

OUTFIT DETAILS
Dress - Forever21
Boyfriend Blazer - H&M
Shoes - Shi by Journeys

I hope all of your Valentine's Day was lovely. On a more random note, care to see a necklace I recently purchased from Etsy?
I love it. :)

And now I must go back to eating some soup and watching Hulu. I've been complaining about how cold it is outside and when it finally starts to warm up, I get sick. I guess the universe does not want me to enjoy nice weather for now.

NYC: My Original Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope your day is filled with love regardless of whether or not you're single, taken, hate the holiday, etc. My Valentine's Day is filled with a bunch of classes but luckily it's beautiful out and I'm looking forward to going to one of my favorite restaurants in my town with the boyfriend. :) Continuing with the love theme, I've decided to write about the city that originally stole my heart and keeps me in love: NYC. I remember being fascinated with it at a very young age and I still feel like a little girl every time I cross into the city. One thing I had never done was go to the top of the Rockefeller Center to see the city in all its glory. If you remember from my previous post, I mentioned that I was taking Brett there as a birthday present. Care to see the pictures from that day?

And now to my actual valentine: Happy Belated Birthday and Happy Valentine's Day. :)

Some pictures of Brett as a baby. Isn't he the cutest?! He's going to kill me for posting them on my blog but oh well. :)

Also, care to see a sneak peek of my Valentine's Day outfit?

I hope you all have a great Valentine's Day and that it's filled with lots of chocolate and lots of love.
