I wanted to take an outfit picture today but the weather outside is miserable so I decided to reflect on a sunnier time. Last summer, Brett and I went to Dominican Republic for a week to visit family. He even met my great grandmother who's 104 years old! I had not been to Dominican Republic since I was thirteen so I was definitely excited to go and show Brett the beautiful island I was born on. Oh, and excuse the poor quality of the shots, I took them with my digital camera. :)
We stayed in a beautiful resort for three days with pristine beaches that seemed to go on forever. We had breakfast with a view of the beach and collected shells in every size.
From the resort, we went to my great grandmother's house in the countryside. All the green that you see are vegetables that she grows in her backyard and the rocking chair above is a seat for guests. How charming is it? :)
Even though I love going to Dominican Republic to visit family and going to resorts, my absolute favorite part of Dominican Republic is the colonial zone. It is the oldest part of the country and it is the first settlement made by Christopher Columbus in the new world. It has tons of charm as well as historic landmarks. On gloomy days like today, I wish I could just fly over to Dominican Republic for a
day month and enjoy sunny weather and then come back to cold, dreary New Jersey when May rolls around.
